‘Green man’ trial: More time for elderly pedestrians

Okay, the title is right out from the Straits Times dated 13th October 2006. It’s an article by some guy named T. Rajan.

(Yes, it’s been a while since I updated this blog.)

Anyway, there’s going to be a trial for lengthening the blinking green man signal by five seconds when eldery pedestrians with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag approach a traffic light that has been installed with special electronic card readers. Random sights

As you can see from On the Bus and Signs, I’ve been doing some spring cleaning of images taken with my mobile phone.

The quality of the pictures aren’t great. I’ve also had to do colour correction and sharpening, removal of noise and so on.

Most of my life, I pretty much go on my own way. But in these brief moments, something struck me about the day, or the light that I made the effort to whip our my mobile phone.

Here are some random images I hope you enjoy. Continue reading “Random sights”

Delicious muffins

So yesterday, I’m close by to Sunshine Plaza, I decided to pop in to Delicious Muffins.

This was my second visit in two months or so. If you know me, a second visit is pretty high praise.

The first time I give something a try, it’s usually when I’m on the move, on an impulse. I don’t have time to analyse the product and it’s more a taste test.

These muffins do pass the taste test. But more than that, these muffins pass the muffin test. In Singapore, most muffins sold under the name “muffin” taste and feel like cake rather than muffins. These muffins are worthy of the muffin name.

So this time, I brought home the muffins and photographed them.

Boraras confusion, the danionin influx and Glofish

Boraras Urophthalmoides

My fish have the signature exclammation point marking of the Boraras Urophtalmoides. That is, a dark/black lateral stripe across the body and ending with a black dot on the peduncle (the junction of the end of the fish body and beginning of the tail). See it?
