Shutterfly Photo Book Review

When I submitted my travel reviews at TripAdvisor, they sent me a coupon for a free 8″x8″ hardcover photo book  containing 20 pages, worth US$29.99 at Shutterfly. All I had to do was to pay for shipping,

Looking up the shipping cost, it’d cost me US$7.99 to my friend’s address in the US where I’d be staying, so I decided to take up the offer to try out the quality of the prints.

Wet Market at Block 628, Ang Mo Kio St 61

This is a long overdue post. And I’m only getting to it now because I’ve been cleaning up my hard disk. (Three days on, I’m still cleaning it away.)

You might remember the wet market at Block 628 because it burned up on 16th October 2007.

Paparazzo

Wah, my house got famous people come and shoot.

I was sleeping, there was yelling, I looked out the window. I snapped.

Overall Voigtlander Bessa R4A

Lens and cap

I’ve been struggling with this decision for the last 4 months. My friend insisted I get a Leica, then later tried to push the Zeiss Ikon, but the Voigtlander Bessa R4A is what I finally got.

Lifted

To receive the stupid call from The Right Angle really killed my morning, but I happened to check out the signature link at the bottom of a post of this guy on Clubsnap, a local photography forum. And immediately I felt way better.

Okay, so Dreams may be too sentimental. But I think the idea behind it is so pure that it warrants a look.

Seeing things

Lately I’ve been seeing unlikely things while walking my dog.

Cow on bench

McDonald’s on a truck

Is this what they mean by “attention to detail”?

PossibiCity

Okay, National Day 2007 “City of Possibilities” is long over.

Didn’t even see the parade on TV.

But I happened to be around the area on the NDP Preview show on 28th July, and although I’d been up and around on my feet since 6am, I stuck around just for the beginning of the show before getting bored with the proceedings.

Totally unprepared, these are the shots from my 18 – 70mm kit lens, so far the best kit lens from Nikon.

First Photos from my Yashica GSN

Okay, so I’ve got the first two rolls of film from my Yashica GSN.

I am pleased. The GSN was fixed nicely. No light leaks. And I notice from the shots during sunset it tends to make the light look redder than it actually was. Sweet.

Weekend at a kelong

Red and blue: Fishing at the Kelong

Spent the weekend at a kelong run by three Singaporeans. The website address is kelongfishing.com but when I checked out the website, I found it was called Hot Boys fishing.

Well, it was hot. But I don’t know who the boys are. Unless you were talking about the old uncles fishing off the kelong.

The kelong is just off Pulau Sibu which is accessed via Tanjung Leman jetty.

It’s not a real kelong and it’s run only for tourists.
