The car, caked with mud from Yosemite, is cleaner after many hours of rain driving along the Oregon coast.<\/p>\n

My photos are filled with raindrops and condensation. Freezing. Tomorow, have planned many more layers including thermals.<\/p>\n

Today is the winter solstice – the shortest day in the year. Sunset at 4:30. But it started to get dark at 3:30.<\/p>\n

Still, some where in the middle of the day, some light broke through and we saw two rainbows: One at the sand dunes near Florence, and another in Florence itself.<\/p>\n

Also saw a very impressive display of Christmas blowups behind a Shell station enroute.<\/p>\n

Am in Lincoln City, OR. Had excellent seafood dinner – a massive shrimp salad and steamer clams – $40. Staying at Palace Inn and Suites, a family run motel, $66 including tax, a triple diamond from AAA. The similarly rated Best Western was between $80 – 90.
