I suppose I should add dates to these entries, since they are all so being blogged about so late.<\/p>\n

So, 7th August…. We make our way from Kansas City to Colorado Springs. Only the drive is 9.5 hours, so we decide to split it halfway at Hays, KS.<\/p>\n

The difficult thing about Kansas City, is that it is pretty much split in the middle and on one side of the river, you are in the state of Missouri, and on the other side, you’re in Kansas.<\/p>\n

And then the state of Kansas is also difficult, because the time line splits somewhere at Goodland and you gain an hour as you go past Goodland, west into the state of Colorado.<\/p>\n

Enroute, we passed the Kansas Speedway where the Nascar races are held and a huge Cabelas. We were also looking for a heating element which we burnt in Kansas City. So we stopped by Cabelas hoping they’d have one there. Well, the Cabelas there is huge. There’s a mountain set with stuffed animals on it. And a whole exhibition area for deer. I wish I could spend the whole day there, but we had to press on.<\/p>\n

We took a ride off the highway to see Wilson Lake, a nice big dammed up lake. Nice houses and rich boat owners. Acres of land in the middle of nowhere for sale with dream house overlooking the lake.<\/p>\n

It was a nice detour.<\/p>\n

We hit a bit of rain along the way and winds that shifted the car from side to side. Other than that, it was sunshiny and the colours of yellow farms met blue skies.<\/p>\n

At Hays, we checked into the Best Western Butterfield, that was a really nice motel with staff who make breakfast for you in the morning. It’s not all self service here.<\/p>\n

Before our heads hit the pillows, we had dinner at the Professor’s, which is a small restaurant hidden in a housing area – off the main street – recommended by the staff of the Butterfield.<\/p>\n

I had the Brunch Burger, that was good. Nicely charred. Parents had a steak. It was cut thin, but done medium just right.<\/p>\n

And we also enjoyed the sunset over the Walmart.<\/p>\n

It is the 19th August tomorrow, my last day in Colorado. As you can see, I have many days of travel to catch up on. Colorado is a nice state. It has a lot to offer and is worth visiting again. But… there are still so many places to visit, not just in the USA, but the rest of the world. With the Pound and Euro heading south, perhaps it is time to consider a very expensive road trip in the UK\/Europe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
