Okay, there are a lot of ways to tie a knot<\/a>, but this is more for me so I don’t forget how I tie a knot that I like.<\/p>\n

A good knot, my cousin once told me, will never unravel but is easy to take out. As a sailor, he should know a thing or two about knots.<\/p>\n

I needed a way to tie a long rope to a lamp post just outside my house. I wanted to be able to walk around and train my dog to look at me while I did my stuff without the risk of having him run away and also to give him the illusion of freedom that a long rope only could. It also let him run outside the house and get more exercise, without me having to actually run with him.<\/p>\n

But my problem is that the rope I tied usually came loose after some pulls.<\/p>\n

So my cousin taught me this one knot, easy and tight as hell and easy to take out. But after some months of not tying the knot, I actually forgot how to do one. So after some revising, I got the knot right again and have decided to document how to tie it.<\/p>\n

First you put the short end of the rope around whatever you want to tie. In my case, it’s the lamp post. The long end of the rope, you make a loop as above.<\/p>\n

Now, pull the short end over through this loop.<\/p>\n

Pull the short end under now.<\/p>\n

\"How<\/a><\/p>\n

And back over and under again.<\/p>\n

Pull everything tight.<\/p>\n
