And I bet there&#8217;s going to be tonnes of these.<\/p>\n<p>There are times, you just walk around and see things. And the mobile phone being such a proficient camera these days, you&#8217;re obliged to snap away and add to the growing international collection of space hogging digital photos pressed into CDs, DVDs, hard disks and never getting printed.<\/p>\n<p>Since I&#8217;m not an avid a-post-every-five-minutes type of blogger, these junk photos get backlogged until I am absolutely compelled to clean up my digital gunk.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, to get the ball rolling&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/joanneteo.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/2007-10-22_13-24-05_dsc00148_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-510\" title=\"Photo of A little further back. Didn&#8217;t your mother teach you that it&#8217;s rude to shout? Even if you add a &#8220;please&#8221; behind it?<\/p>\n<p>And next, the reason why people cross when the red man light is on. We have a first world education system that has taught us not to litter or be fined, not to spit or be fined, how to use the toilet considerately or be&#8230; no there&#8217;s no fine for that, and to be patriotic.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, Dear Singaporeans, the government has given you your free flag. So why so reluctant to fly your flag proud? Well maybe because not too long ago, owning a Singapore flag was impossible. To hold one, to drape one around your shoulders, to display one, to sell one was illegal.<\/p>\n<p>So now, when we get a flag slipped under our doors, or put in our mailboxes, we hoard it, just in case one day, it be decreed illegal again. But I really like plastic bags. Made well, they can be used many times over. First to bring the groceries home, then to put trash in.<\/p>\n<p>In between that, you might use it to transport pots of soups and other liquids to your auntie&#8217;s house, to your friend&#8217;s house, to pass things to other people. Used in multiple layers, it can be used to store sugar and keep ants completely out. What use is a paper bag? It gets soggy. It can&#8217;t hold trash. It tears easily. And what about those trees?<\/p>\n<p>So now you put a hole in a plastic bag? That really kills me.
