After sending my parents to the airport, I took the other half of the day to visit Alcatraz.<\/p>\n

I don’t know why I felt it was important to visit Alcatraz. I guess visiting San Francisco isn’t complete without visiting the former home of the most famous criminals. The movies about parties travelling over the cold waters and reaching those behind bars, torturing them mentally. The imagery of Alcatraz is strong and powerful.<\/p>\n

But I wasn’t the only person who thought so. Hundreds of people travel by the ferry each trip, to get there and it was frustrating taking photos there. In every single shot, there’s a tourist. I couldn’t get a clean shot. Unless it was out of bounds to them – and me.<\/p>\n

I was at Alcatraz from 2:20pm till the place closed and took the last ferry out.<\/p>\n

Then I headed out to Fisherman’s Wharf, which I found a bit too touristy.<\/p>\n

But one interesting place was Boudin<\/a>, which I didn’t get to try. It is a bread bakery shop specializing in sourdough and they have these converyor belts bringing baskets of bread from the ovens to the shop. Quite interesting. I should’ve brought a loaf back to try. But I was tired and wasn’t thinking straight.<\/p>\n
