One Hundred Push Ups: Week 4

I continue Week Four of the 100 push ups programme.

After ending Week Three on a positive note, Week Four is starting really hard. Harder than the third week.

Day 1 (10th November 2008):
The sets are 18, 22, 16, 16 and at least 25, with at least 60 seconds of rest in between.

Set one to three were okay. I struggled through the forth set and had to pause in the 5th set. I max’d out at 20 push ups, and had to re-adjust and continue to finish up the five. My arms locked up, simply too tired to continue.

The last five were good form in that it was still the arms lifting the entire body. However, I did not go as low as I usually go.

I think the programme may be taking its toll. I shall push on to Day 2.

Already, I saw weakness in my performance at the start of Week Three. If Week Four continues to be a challenge, I think I will repeat Week Four.

Day 2 (12th November 2008):
The sets are 20, 25, 20, 20 and at least 28, with at least 90 seconds of rest in between.

I don’t understand why the second set of 25 was a problem. The sets of 20 are all okay. The last set didn’t go as well either.

I am almost certain I will have to repeat this week.

Day 3 (14th November 2008):
The sets are 23, 28, 23, 23 and at least 33, with at least 120 seconds of rest in between.

How easy can this regime be? Yet at 10pm, I found I’d forgotten to do my required push ups. Which was great between cleaning up my hard disk and deleting stuff and pressing archives and backups onto CDRom.

I took a longer rest in between and managed the first four ok. But with the last set, it was a struggle after 30 push ups.

Weekly Conclusion:

I think I have to repeat Week 4. I never felt as weak and unsteady in any other week as I do with Week 4.
