The car, caked with mud from Yosemite, is cleaner after many hours of rain driving along the Oregon coast.
My photos are filled with raindrops and condensation. Freezing. Tomorow, have planned many more layers including thermals.
Today is the winter solstice – the shortest day in the year. Sunset at 4:30. But it started to get dark at 3:30.
Still, some where in the middle of the day, some light broke through and we saw two rainbows: One at the sand dunes near Florence, and another in Florence itself.
Also saw a very impressive display of Christmas blowups behind a Shell station enroute.
Am in Lincoln City, OR. Had excellent seafood dinner – a massive shrimp salad and steamer clams – $40. Staying at Palace Inn and Suites, a family run motel, $66 including tax, a triple diamond from AAA. The similarly rated Best Western was between $80 – 90. So am feeling happy with the deal.

how do you like the moody, grey Oregon coast?
joanne, wherever you go, rainbows follow…

Actually, it was not all grey. It was either very rainy, very cold and always having my lens get wet, or the next day, it was bright and sunny but still cold!
