After our more than 4 mile walk to Fairy Falls, today was filled with a lot of walking down and up steep slopes to see waterfalls.
When I step out of the car, I’m stiff and have to walk out like a cowboy. My knees hurt. Boy, am I getting old.
I am enjoying this part, the Upper Loop of Yellowstone National Park a bit more.
The vistas are amazing. Nothing that a camera would do justice. All the colours of the hills, yellows, greens (in various shades). And when the sun hits the grass in a certain way, the colours change again.
And the drive is much better. More winding roads. More driving.
I’ve picked up a few skills along the way:
- How to apply sun screen while navigating a curve at 45miles
- How to pick up sun glasses from the floorboard between my legs while driving at 75 miles.
- How to not brake on curves at 55 miles.
Oh, and if you have a Starhub line, you can forget about any coverage around here. For Singtel, it’s only marginally better. There is some coverage in Gardiner, MT. In West Yellowstone and in YNP itself, both lines cannot work. It’s a good thing I didn’t pay for a roaming plan.

yellowstone looks amazing.
I see you are learning some american driving skills. haha. similar skills include using your cellphone while driving (probably illegal in most states by now), eating an entire meal while driving, reading a map while driving…
