Asian Filter (Fan) Shrimp

After admiring these shrimp in the shop for several months, I decided to plonk down $3 to get one.

Asian Filter Shrimp

These amazing little creatures have fans on their legs that filter debris in the water. And then they pop the leg into the mouth and eat whatever their filters have caught.

The Asian Filter Shrimp (Atoyopsis moluccensis) is much larger than the other shrimps that people love to collect in their tanks now – Cherry Shrimps, Crystal Red Shrimp, Zebra Shrimps and so on – but they’re really peace loving shrimp.

Apparently, you can’t keep them with fierce unfriendly fish that might want to go after them.

He dwarfs the Mosquito Boraras many times over, but they get alone perfectly fine.
