Okay, National Day 2007 “City of Possibilities” is long over.
Didn’t even see the parade on TV.
But I happened to be around the area on the NDP Preview show on 28th July, and although I’d been up and around on my feet since 6am, I stuck around just for the beginning of the show before getting bored with the proceedings.
Totally unprepared, these are the shots from my 18 – 70mm kit lens, so far the best kit lens from Nikon.
Some kids in costume making their way from Suntec City to the bay. (This particular one was taken with the Sony Ericsson k800i phone.)
These guys fell from the sky and landed on stage:
The colour of the sky of the last photo was the actual colour of the sky that day. Yucky.
The two earlier shots, I was using incandescent WB. Wonderful that using digital can let you change the feel and mood of a day just by changing the WB setting.
View from the plebian viewing area (ie no tickets) Guessing the coast guard was there to prevent us from jumping in, swimming across to the official viewing stands.
Chinook? Puma? It flys lah. And it can drop people into water. And from where I was, I could feel the spray of the water. Why do military people like this? It’s not like it can come in quietly and sneak up on the enemy.
Another flying object.
I overheard a guy tell his wife that this flying object is special because it can turn. This is surprising to me. Can’t all helicopters turn? How else do they get back to base?
They really turn!
And they can bow too.
Finally, the obligatory shot of patriotism.
PS: The title of this entry is taken from one of the titles of the mass displays at the NDP.

i watched the parade and when i heard the word “Possibicity” i almost died from convulsions of simultaneous laughter and repulsion. if i had been drinking milk, it would have come out of my nose.
