This is a long overdue post. And I’m only getting to it now because I’ve been cleaning up my hard disk. (Three days on, I’m still cleaning it away.)
You might remember the wet market at Block 628 because it burned up on 16th October 2007.
Why I will not forget that event is because I heard the blast while I was walking my dog Sumo. I heard the blast and I thought nothing of it.
Until I saw the article of it in the papers the next day.
Then I realised that what I had heard was from the fire.
Today, that spot is one big field of cow grass.
Just days earlier, before the fire, on the morning of the 14th, I was at that same market at 5am in the morning. I was trying not to raise the camera to my eye, instead, using distance to focus.
There were a few photography students there too that day and making way too much noise for so few of them. It really irritated me as their behaviour drew attention to me too.
The film I used was Fuji Superia ASA 1600. These were the photos that are passable. I consider myself lucky to have caught some faces in the photos. But mostly, I was disappointed in the photos because they look too generic.

Great shots! 😀
