Ladies and Gentlemen,
May I present to you two very clean 4 year old keyboards:
Yes, today I just had it with the grime and stickiness that had accumulated over the years on my keyboards despite the fact that I’ve vacuumed them frequently and wiped the top of the keys.
But it looks like dry cleaning is simple insufficient.
I don’t eat while typing and very rarely do I snack at my computer.
Despite this, I found numerous ant carcasses, both of the flying and crawling variety. Hair. Bits of paper. And general stickiness under the keys. How the stickiness got there is beyond me. Yes, anything that the CSI team would find interesting.
I ripped out all the keys, washed the white keys in diluted bleach and dishwashing liquid. The black keys just had a wash in dishwashing liquid.
In support of the theory that white things get more dirty, the water from the wash of the white mac keyboard was indeed more brown. Furthermore, the white keys required more rubbing to get the dust stains out.
Not only is the keyboard clean on top, it’s clean in between the keys.
Putting back the alphabets in the right position was not terribly easy. I admit, I cheated at times. I could not remember the layout completely.
The mouse pad and two mouse also had a wipe with anti bacterial soap.
I feel like I can do a lot of typing now.

well done. very clean.
