Just before I left for Scotland, everything electronic seemed to be falling apart.
My Focusrite died and cost me over $100 to fix.
The pickup on my Kanilea ukulele wasn’t picking up nothing. The maker of the ukulele turned out to be useless in helping me. I contacted Mi-Si the makers of the pickup and after sending the thing back, they found no issue with what I’d sent in, but sent me a new one anyway.
I came back from Scotland and the new Mi-Si was waiting for me. I contacted the guy who helped me take the old Mi-Si out and he said go somewhere and fix it. The saddle isn’t deep enough.
Not wanting anyone to touch my ukulele and modify and scrape off wood here and there, I spent about 2-3 hours trying to fit the pickup into the ukulele.
Why 2-3 hours? Well, unlike a guitar, you cannot fit your hand in the sound hole, so you have to use chopsticks, other wires to help you navigate and install the thing into the ukulele. And since it was my first time, it was hard to find the right “tool”.
The good news is, is the pickup works, my Focusrite works and after many weeks of practice, I recorded Beyond the Sea.
I rush through the song, but I am quite proud of it because I managed to sing and play it at the same time. And keep mostly in tune.
Full of flaws, but here it is anyway…

no idea what you are talking about in this whole post – but excellent job!
