thoughts escaping my mind
.. and then some thirty sixes bitterly turning thirty seven in January.
It was my class’ 20th reunion and we had a gathering on 8th August 2008. Whoever decided to organise this, didn’t really care that we had to miss the Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony for this.
But we didn’t seem to miss it. Maybe if it had been a whole bunch of boys, that might have been different.
This morning I woke up at 6am because the electricity tripped. The maid was ironing my mom’s skirt for work. Why she had to do it so early in the morning instead of last night? I don’t know.
All I know is I’m the one who had to wake up, find the key to the gatepost and re-instate our modern quality of life because my parents didn’t even know the electricity was cut off. Even if they had known, would they have bothered?
After that, I simply couldn’t get back to sleep. The dogs also got excited and woke up early.
As a result, I started polishing my mother’s silverware which, due to long storage, I’d taken out and soaked in lemon juice, dish washing liquid and aluminum foil, overnight. And as I got sleepier, the dogs went back to sleep, full from their meal, I pressed on polishing up silver that hadn’t seen light of day after a grand total of 4 dinners many years ago.

CNY 2008, had a great ang pow. Long time since I saw such a nice series of ang pows. And from the fuddy duddy of banks, OCBC!
What’s nice about them?
The old house my parents bought had one of those nice old solid pieces of wood that you rarely find on hand rails these days.
The heavy hardwoods are usually painted and as the house gets transferred from owner to owner, each one adds his/her own coat of paint to it.
But I rarely like wood painted. I like to see the natural colours of the wood emerge.
Today, I received an SMS that made my blood boil:
This writer I hire for my film is not sure of highlighting changes in his drafts. Any key functions tat he can press?
Who are we kidding? With the military in-charge, the aid isn’t reaching the right people.
And it really gets my gall to see the military voting on their stupid referendum as if nothing has happened.

Am I the only person who thinks our local chilli isn’t hot any longer?
I don’t have a high tolerance for chilli. And for many years – even till when I started working, I found that chilli could make me cry.
Yes, the ordinary chilli you buy from the wet market – it has no name, just chilli – and you pay like 20 cents for a few chillies. Now, you’d have to pay a dollar for the same amount.
I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve written in my blog. I don’t know how people blog about their lives every few minutes or hours. Why is it that they have so much happening in their lives that is worth telling everyone about and I don’t?
Well, just because I’ve not written anything doesn’t mean life’s stopped for me.
It isn’t very often that I have to say good things about products and services.
But when I do get the chance, believe me, it makes me very happy.
Because it does feel good to have a good experience and be treated well. Plus, it’s nice to share good experiences with others, so their lives can also be enhanced.
Today, it’ll be about paint. To be specific, ICI Paint’s customer service and their Colour Consultation service which is free till Dec 2007.
Just how impressed am I with ICI Paints’ customer response? Very impressed. But that’s not to say it wasn’t without hitches.
