My friend brought me to have a taste of Haato, a Japanese Gelato place. My current favourite flavours – well, actually, the two times I’ve been there, I’ve ordered the same thing – are banana chocolate and durian. Continue reading “Holey Haato”
Mail for the trash
When it comes to mail, there are usually only two stacks. Trash or bills.
The other third, less common stack are the surprises – actual letters from people you want to hear from and birthday cards that don’t come from NTUC income, your insurance agent or any other company you do business with. Actually those never form a stack. But I can hope.
Most times, you can’t wait to get rid of the trash stack.
But there are times when they are worth a look.
Like the mailer I received today. Continue reading “Mail for the trash”
The fresh search continues…
I guess it’s about time I hunker down and finish what I started in this post.
I was quite excited by the green tea flavour. But after several weeks with green tea toothpaste, I hardly even notice the green tea taste any longer. And I don’t think of eating sushi when I brush.
In search for freshness
Having squeezed the life out of my current tube of Darlie All Shiny White Flouride Toothpaste, I went in search for another tube. Continue reading “In search for freshness”
NTUC Xtra, 24 hour drive-thru McDonald’s, Ang Mo Kio Hub
Two big things have happened in year 2006 for the humble rather sleepy hollow of Ang Mo Kio – the 24 hour drive-in McDonald’s with free parking, should you choose to dine-in and the move of NTUC Fairprice into the new but ugly Ang Mo Kio Hub (AMK Hub) and its transformation from Plain Jane supermarket to hypermart. Continue reading “NTUC Xtra, 24 hour drive-thru McDonald’s, Ang Mo Kio Hub”
Down with pop-ups
It’s nice that the Singapore Government wants to make most of its services available online.
You can pay for fines and licenses online.
You can search for rules and policies on flat-buying online.
You can book your solemnization slot at the Registry of Marriages online.
It’s nice. It’s convenient.
But… yes there is always, unfortunately, a but… why can’t they do it right? Continue reading “Down with pop-ups”
Busing around
So the bus fares have been up since October this year. And now, over a month later, ther Public Transport Council (PTC) has revealed its’ findings for this year.
Public transport use is down and I believe there are two solutions to this: Schedules and decreased waiting times.
‘Green man’ trial: More time for elderly pedestrians
Okay, the title is right out from the Straits Times dated 13th October 2006. It’s an article by some guy named T. Rajan.
(Yes, it’s been a while since I updated this blog.)
Anyway, there’s going to be a trial for lengthening the blinking green man signal by five seconds when eldery pedestrians with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag approach a traffic light that has been installed with special electronic card readers. Continue reading “‘Green man’ trial: More time for elderly pedestrians”
Bus 170 – a filthy ride
Today I boarded the 170 on a ride from Sim Lim Square to Coronation Plaza.
I’ve probably taken this service no more than five times in my life.
When I first boarded it, I was immediately stunned by the stench in the bus. It smelt like cow dung. It was disgusting.
I looked around the bus and the condition of it was appalling. Continue reading “Bus 170 – a filthy ride”
Confirmed: SMRT PR Department sleeping away
It’s official. From this entry dated 18th July, SMRT never replied to my query.
Sloppy. Sloppy.
Who says private enterprise is more efficient?
